Haiti Support Letter - Family & Friends

Beloved Family & Friends,

I hope you are well! The Lord has been up to so much in 2014 already and it has been such a wild ride and blessing. I am currently teaching a women's Bible study every Tuesday that has grown to 30+ ladies! It has been so fun to walk alongside them as they pursue the Lord and I also got an internship with a ministry called Travel the Road which was started by my two boss's, Tim Scott & Will Decker. They preach the Gospel to unreached people groups and record their journeys to make a TV series to encourage the Church to be active in the Great Commission. This TV show captured my attention and heart about 3 years ago and I have been journeying with Tim & Will ever since and now I have the amazing opportunity to work for them! They have taught me what it looks like to live actively engaged in the Great Commission and have stretched my faith in so many ways. I have also been guest speaking at high school & college ministries from South Orange County to Chino! The Lord has been doing so much in my life recently, one thing in particular that He put on my heart was to go back to Haiti this summer!

I went to Haiti for the first time in July 2010 right after the earthquake hit and fell in love with the people and the nation of Haiti. I then went back next summer and led my first team through Saddleback Church. I have maintained relationships with both my translators, Ostanel and Manno and have also stayed in touch with Pastor Previllon who is the Pastor and "Father" of the orphanage we worked with both summers called "Swamp Kids". I have always desired to go back to Haiti and since working for Travel the Road and talking with my boss Tim Scott, who is a full time 15 year seasoned missionary, I have decided the time is now! I truly want to make good use of my time on earth and live everyday poured out for the Gospel. God is worthy of it all and I have come to a place in my life and walk with the Lord that I am not going to wait around for stuff to happen or come to me. I have been given His Spirit and His Word and it is time I walk by faith and not by sight. I desire so strongly for every nation to come to know the saving love and grace of Jesus Christ and worship Him in return. Will you help me on this journey? Will you come alongside me in this heart cry and support me?

I will be leading a team of 10 people to Port-au Prince, Haiti from August 6 - 14, 2014 and will need to raise $1,300. We will be partnering with the same translators, orphanage, and church as before in 2010 & 2011. I can't do this without you though. Working in ministry full time does not leave a whole lot of extra money in my pocket, but I know the Lord will provide and I pray that you will consider partnering with me to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth both financially and prayerfully. Not only will you be blessing me personally by allowing me to go back to Haiti but you will also be actively involved in the Lord's move and outstretched arm that is bringing the world to know His Son, Jesus Christ! It is so much bigger than me going to Haiti, it is about giving to the work of His Kingdom and His hand. I would be so blessed by your willingness to advance the Kingdom alongside me. If you can't donate financially, know that your prayers are richer to me than any dollar amount. I am so thankful for them and I am so thankful for you Any amount of money helps, don't think any donation is too small. The Lord knows your heart and sees your willingness and will bless you for giving out of the abundance He has given you. May the Lord continue to bless you, keep you, and cause His face to shine upon you. You can donate here at my "GoFundMe" account - http://www.gofundme.com/7709t8 or if you want to directly send me something, you can e-mail me at Lkulick2@gmail.com and I will send you my address! Thank you SO much! Many Blessings to you!

In Him,

Notes from 1st Official Haiti Meeting

We had our first official information meeting at Mica's house on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Here are my simple notes that I had in front of me during this meeting.

Dates: Wednesday, August 6 - Thursday, August 14
           9 days total

Airfare: kayak.com had the cheapest flights for $529-$540 round trip and had a lot of planes scheduled to fly from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to PAP (Port-au Prince International Airport)

While on the ground in Haiti we will pay $60/day per person. This covers - food, water, shelter, transportaion, and translation.

Why we go on missions trips:
Matthew 25:31-46 ~ That is what we want to be known for as children of God, we want to live out verse 40, "Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me."
Matthew 26:6-13 ~ The time is now! We should pour out all that we have for the Kingdom now! For we don't know the hour in which He will return, we don't know when our time will be done here on earth. Let us make good use of it and live our lives now, not waiting for life to happen but making life happen. Don't let fear or finacnes get in the way. Just like the woman who poured out her entire savings worth of perfume, she knew Jesus was worth it. She also had no fear... a woman doing something so crazy back then in front of a bunch of men could have led to her being stoned. But she risked it, because she knew Jesus was worth it and He saw her sacrifice and her heart and blessed her.
Matthew 28:18-20 ~ The last thing written in the Gospels... the ONE command that Jesus gave us - this is your purpose. People always ask what their purpose is... well here it is! This looks different for everyone. You may be called to go into America and make disciples, you may be called to go to Europe and make disciples, etc. No matter what or where though, you are called to make disciples and teach them the things of Jesus. This is a vital part to a Christian... a part of the puzzle usually left out. Going to Haiti, or even going to Target, we have a choice to be active in the Spirit's move in this world. It's just whether or not we say yes. The sole reason the Church exists is to carry out this purpose, this mission. Once it is complete the Church will no longer be needed, we will simply worship together. Every tribe, every nation, every tongue. What a glorious day we look forward to.

What will we be doing in Haiti? ~ Jesus told us to "teach them the things I taught you" pretty much. So we will be going and teaching the things that Jesus taught! For example, Jesus taught that "man does not live on bread alone but the very Word of God", He taught "they will know you are My disciples by how you love one another", etc. Pretty much everything in red letters in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are considered Jesus teachings. We will be teaching the things of Jesus at an Orphanage called "Swamp Kids" that I have worked with for the past 4 years, headed up by Pastor Previllon. We also will be doing any ministry that our translator Ostanel finds us. I have been good friends with Ostanel for 4 years also and he is an amazing man of God who is gifted at hospitality and caregiving. He is our translator, security, driver, and spiritual papa. He knows what's up and loves God and desires to see His spirit poured out on the nation of Haiti, his homeland. Wherever God opens a door for ministry, we will walk in it!

Unfortunately only 10 people can go at once - I was initially planning on doing two trips back to back but with my work load for Travel the Road (my boss's just left on a one year mission) and being faithful to my Bible study & present ministry in the states I can't plan two back to back trips... BUT, I will be planning a trip over Christmas break in which whoever wasn't picked for this trip will be GUARANTEED a spot on the December/early January trip. I am really sorry for those of you who will not be able to come in August. Just know that you WILL go in December, I promise.

As Christians we should all abide by this scripture "Just say a simple, 'Yes, I will,' or 'No, I won't.' Anything beyond this is from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37). This is a huge commitment. Because you are going with me and not a church/organization, if you back out last minute you will simply be loosing money or wasting money of the people who financially supported you on this trip. If it is a "No" that is TOTALLY FINE. Just let it be a no. If it is a "yes" then be faithful to your yes and the Lord will bless you sticking to your word.

Along with saying "yes" and committing, there will be MANDATORY meetings in which you must attend. I will be having 6 mandatory meetings throughout the next 6 months before we leave.

1. Fundraising & Passports
2. Vaccinations/Malaria Medicine/Medical Prep/Clothing & Toiletries
3. Specific Prayer Training/Time - Pressing into the Spirit in the 3rd World
4. How to speak Creole & History of Haiti & Culture of Haiti
5. VBS Prep/Teaching Material
6. Daily Team Devotions & Team Dynamics

I will be posting a Calendar later, so check back! Our next meeting will be March 7, 2014 at 6:00pm at my house. If you don't have my address please contact me via E-Mail or text me if you have my number (don't want to put to much information on the internet!) - Lkulick2@gmail.com

So excited to take you all to the nation that stole my heart in 2010. It will be such an exciting and rich time in Him that I can't wait to share with you all. Many blessings!

Haiti At A Glance

Haiti At A Glance

Haiti is a Caribbean country occupying the western third of Hispaniola, sharing the island with the Dominican Republic. It is about the size of the state of Maryland, 50 miles from Cuba, and 600 miles from Florida.

Haiti has historically been poverty stricken due to a variety of factors such as war, occupations and dictatorships, isolation and racism. These factors
are still impacting Haiti today along with current economic and environmental factors such as international aid sanctions, internal political conict, deforestation that leads to soil erosion and ooding, hurricanes, and most recently the devastating earthquake in 2010. Leaving over 230,000 dead and over 1 million displaced.

The average Haitian earns less than $2 a day. There have been estimates that 1 percent of the country's 9.7 million people control nearly half its wealth. More than half of the population lacks access to clean water or sanitation. Fifty percent of the population is undernourished, with one in ve children underweight or under-height for their age.

Twelve percent of Haitian children die before their rst birthday, and one third do not make it to their fth.

Today most Haitians are Christian and 50-60 percent Roman Catholic. The number of Protestants has been growing steadily. Baptists and Pentecostals are the largest registered denominations, although many others are represented. Many Haitians continue to practice Voodoo or incorporate Voodoo into Christianity as has been done for several hundred years.

Even with all the struggles that Haiti faces, there remains a people with open arms and smiling faces. It is a culture rich in music, art, and storytelling. The land is graced with beautiful beaches and breathtaking mountains.
