MEETING CHANGED! Friday May 2!

Hey everyone! Lot's of stuff I want to touch base with you guys about so please please come to the meeting THIS Friday at my house at 7pm.

If you have 650$ - you should buy your ticket with us this Friday! Bring a computer/lap top and we can purchase our tickets together. (Make sure the money is in your personal bank account when you come to my house Friday!) Don't freak out if you don't have the money raised already, I just want to get the tickets asap for as many of us who can purchase them. If you have 650$ in your personal account/savings and want to use that to buy the ticket Friday then you can do that and when you fundraise just put the funds back into your account.

We really need to get the tickets as soon as possible so the price doesn't go up! Get creative and keep pursuing people to partner with you! Persistence is key and be PRAYING. Pray. Pray. Pray.

If you have any questions or concerns PLEASE contact me. I am praying for each one of you, daily, financially, spiritually, and emotionally. Much Love.

In Him,

Lindsay Kulick

Haiti Reminders & Updates! 4/17/14

Hey Team!

Hope all is well! Just some quick reminders....

1. Get fundraising!! The first set of people are buying plane tickets within the next 2 weeks and the quicker we fundraise, the quicker we can get all the plane tickets! Let me know if you need any help with this. You can check out my GoFundMe account at www.gofundme.com/lindsaykulick for more guidance/inspiration.

2. Make sure you see your doctors soon! It's best not to put this off to the end because the sooner we are to leaving, the more stuff we will need to get done and getting your shots & malaria medicine is something you can do and should do NOW. Don't procrastinate it. Get it done! :)

3. NEXT MEETING - MAY 9, 2014 at 7pm at my (Lindsay's) house!

4. Remember to have your eyes open when you are shopping & running errands for stuff you need for Haiti! See packing list & dress code below if you don't have a copy!

5. I am so so excited for this trip and have just had some really sweet times of prayer with the Lord about it and about you all. I am so confident that this is His hand and that He is in total control of this trip. I am praying for each of you individually by name for finances, broken hearts for Haiti, and a loud YES in your Spirit to see His Kingdom come in your life and in the nation of Haiti!

Always feel free to text me or call me (or e-mail...) if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. We can grab coffee and chat!

Radical by David Platt

Hey Haiti Team! Just wanted to let you guys know that this book is at Family Christian Bookstore (In Costa Mesa off the 405 & Harbor) for $5.00!! It is SO good. I HIGHLY recommend it!! Below the picture is a summary of the book.

What is Jesus worth to you?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.

o Comfortable walking/working shoes

o Socks

o Sandals (comfortable shoes to lounge around/shower)

o Clothing: *see dressing for Haiti list

o Bathing Suit: (modest for men and women, a one piece for women)

o Sleepwear *see dressing for Haiti list

o Bag for dirty clothes (i.e. trash bag/laundry bag)

o Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Hat/bandana (the sun is very direct and very strong)

o BUG Spray-- Use unscented items (i.e. lotion) to avoid attracting bugs.

o Purse/backpack/daypack/fanny pack (to carry your stuff on day trips)

o Toiletries (toothbrush and paste, lotion, shampoo, soap, lip balm,

contact solution, razor, feminine products, etc.)

ONLY Makeup allowed is waterproof mascara!!

o Toilet paper/tissue packs

o Washcloths for your personal use.

o Medications (I.e. Imodium, Pepto, Antihistamine, Epi Pen, and any personal

medications. Try to keep in original, labeled containers).

o Bible, pen, journal, reading books

o Hand sanitizer or anti-bacterial wipes (enough for your stay).

o Water bottles- 1 (Nalgene type works great) or a camelback.

o Powdered drink mixes for your personal use. (i.e. Crystal light, propel, etc.)

o Snacks (you will NOT have open access to food anytime you want it so                      pack

wisely. (i.e. trail mix, jerky, granola bars, peanut butter, crackers, etc.)

o Flashlight/headlamp/extra batteries

o Camera/film/memory cards/batteries.

o   Chargers/converters/batteries needed for your devices.  (Just camera)

o  Lindsay will have a cell phone/computer to keep everyone home updated (I will expand more on this at the meeting)

o Spending money-in US dollars. It is recommended to bring anywhere from $50- $150. We usually stop for sodas after working all day or we go to the market, etc. We also can use some of this money to buy food while traveling through the states to Haiti and back

Please do not purchase the following souvenirs: anything made with goatskin, voodoo drums, or a statue of
an old man with a pipe leaning on a stick.

Dress Code

Ladies:
No Spandex! No tight clothing at all.
No low cut shirts, not even close to being low cut. Must be what one would               consider, baggy!
Only thick strapped tank tops allowed. I usually wear tank top/shorts/and a thin button up. I’ll show examples at the meeting.

For church:
Long skirts. Floor length. I recommend earth tones, mosquitos tend to like                 bright colors more.
You would think to wear less clothing because of the heat but I find that wearing longer sleeves and pants gives less room for mosquitos to bite you! For bed I would wear leggings that went all the way down to ankle and then socks over them so none of my leg/feet are exposed to the wrath of the mosquito! Just remember ladies that this isn’t a glam show… no one cares what you look like.

Again, only makeup allowed is Waterproof Mascara. Seriously…. Don’t even bring anything else. You’ll sweat it off anyway and make your skin super unhealthy and we really won’t have time for primping… nor should that be our focus at all.

Jewelry- No necklaces/dangly earrings (I’ll wear a necklace to church sometimes…but kids will tug on them) – the kids will pick/tug on stuff so bracelets are ok. Stud earrings are ok but I personally wouldn’t wear them. I always wear my ring and that’s fine cause it isn’t flashy or have any value. My tragus & nose ring are always in and that’s fine but just be cautious because the flashier the stuff, the more attention drawn or the easier to tug on the more risk you have of it being ripped out, etc. Just be smart…

Men: Earth tones recommended as well. One pair of kakhi/nicer pants for church & button down (short or long sleeve) – just something nice for church. Other than that, tshirts, cargo shorts/basketball shorts, running shoes/hiking shoes.

Shoes: I would wear toms for church just cause it looks better with skirts, but you can also wear sandals to church. Guys can wear whatever shoes they want to church.

Other than that I would wear running shoes/ hiking boots/ comfortable shoes.
